What happened

BTB on BNB Smart Chain was exploited on November 18, 2024 for about 5,000 dollars. The incident analysis and the cited transaction show a 100,000 BUSD loan, a swap into BTB, and conversion of 3,052 BTB through BTB's exchangeBTBToUSDT path for about 4,999 BUSD.

How it happened

  1. The attacker obtained 100,000 BUSD and swapped it through PancakeSwap V2 for about 1,263,427 BTB.
  2. The source analysis says BTB's exchange path used the BTB-BUSD pair reserves to determine its conversion price, so the preceding large swap changed that price.
  3. The attacker sent 3,052 BTB to the exchange path and received about 4,999 BUSD.
  4. The remaining BTB was swapped back for about 99,964 BUSD; after the loan repayment, the transaction sent about 4,864 BUSD to the initiating address.
