Chain Fusion Hack
What happened
On 28 September 2019 an attacker used the stolen private key of a Fusion Foundation wallet, described as the Fusion Network's token swap wallet, to take 10 million native FSN and 3.5 million ERC-20 FSN. Cointelegraph and The Next Web put the haul at about $6.4 million; CoinDesk valued it at roughly $3.75 million and said it was about a quarter of the FSN supply.
The foundation said the Fusion protocol itself was not breached and user wallets were unaffected. It suspected someone connected to the foundation, and its product chief called the thief a well-prepared attacker rather than a novice. Part of the tokens were wash-traded and sold on Bitmax and Hotbit. OKEx, Huobi, Bitmax, Citex and Hotbit suspended FSN deposits and withdrawals, the foundation moved its remaining funds to cold storage, and FSN fell by more than half within hours of the announcement. No recovery of the stolen tokens was reported in these sources.
