What happened
Ravencoin experienced a network-wide chain split beginning on 7 August 2026 after a consensus flaw allowed forged KAWPOW block headers. The incident affected miners, exchanges, and wallets rather than a single protocol pool.
Technical root cause
Consensus validation did not validate the KAWPOW block-header nHeight field.
How it happened
The nHeight field in KAWPOW block headers was not validated, allowing forged blocks with little work to be stacked onto the chain. Operators coordinated a patched chain and checkpointed the last clean block.
