Incident Overview

The TEDDY DOGE project has been rugpulled by the admin wallet. The sell-off amounts to roughly $4,5m USD (2m $BUSD and 10k $BNB).

According to its own words the Teddy Doge project is one-stop full-featured decentralized exchange including a swap, aggregate transactions, liquidity and farms.

The token deployer minted 30m $Teddy token to the admin wallet on Jan 30, 2022 https://bscscan.com/tx/0x47bb8850…e75464

The admin wallet proceeded to transfer what would be worth 4,5m USD worth of $TEDDY token to hundreds of addresses.

Example of a wallet receiving funds (1) by the admin wallet and subsequently dumping (2) the $TEDDY on PancakeSwap in even smaller transactions:

2) https://bscscan.com/tx/0x4534f25a…ba182f

At the end of the process, the funds, namely $BNB and $BUSD were aggregated in this wallet and slowly sold off on Binance.

What the Attacker Needed to Succeed

Understanding the prerequisites for this type of attack helps auditors identify protocols that are most at risk and helps developers build better defenses.

Technical Knowledge Deep understanding of rugpull and Solidity and EVM internals
Capital Required Seed capital to cover gas and initial position setup
On-Chain Access Ability to interact with smart contracts and deploy a custom exploit contract
Protocol Analysis Identification of the exploitable vulnerability in TEDDY DOGE's contract logic - root cause: exchange (dex)
Execution Speed Precise transaction ordering and timing to exploit the vulnerability within a single atomic block
Obfuscation Plan A strategy to launder and move stolen funds - typically through mixers, cross-chain bridges, or decentralized DEX swaps to resist tracing

What Auditors Should Check

Could this have been caught in audit? Hard to catch — private key / OpSec failures are outside smart contract audit scope

If you're auditing a protocol with similar architecture to TEDDY DOGE, these are the critical security checks that could have prevented this incident (July 2022).

  • Verify all logic paths related to Rugpull are guarded by proper access controls and input validation
  • Review privileged functions (owner, admin, governance) for potential abuse vectors - centralization risks should be documented and bounded with timelocks or multi-sigs
