Giant Divine Shield Hack
Incident Overview
Giant Divine Shield token price dropped by more than 97%. The initial token distributor sent 1,000,000,000 $GIDS to EOA address, which dumped the token price.
Giant Divine Shield is a BEP20 token that trades on PancakeSwap. The token distributor address sent 1,000,000,000 $GIDS to another EOA address on the 15th of September. The address started selling aggressively and drained liquidity from the GIDS/WBNB pair.
The attacker used several addresses to distribute $GIDS and drain liquidity as well. The total profit of the attacker reached 140,869 $USD which was transferred to another EOA address.

What the Attacker Needed to Succeed
Understanding the prerequisites for this type of attack helps auditors identify protocols that are most at risk and helps developers build better defenses.
What Auditors Should Check
If you're auditing a protocol with similar architecture to Giant Divine Shield, these are the critical security checks that could have prevented this incident (September 2022).
- Verify all logic paths related to Rugpull are guarded by proper access controls and input validation
- Review privileged functions (owner, admin, governance) for potential abuse vectors - centralization risks should be documented and bounded with timelocks or multi-sigs
