What happened

There isn't a lot of information about the MyBitcoin breach. Many say that the founder of MyBitcoin, Tom Williams, ran the supposed infiltration as a scam. All evidence has been inconclusive.

As a result, one of the most successful bitcoin companies of that time was closed.
